Five Business Related Podcasts

Podcasts are really having a moment right now, and for good reason. They’re so easy to listen to, and make it feel like you’re multitasking when doing otherwise boring tasks like cleaning your house or doing dishes. Both Arabela and I have gotten really into listening to them, and we previously shared a list of our top five favorites. Since then we have added many more to our list, and I wanted to share a few that are specifically business-related with you. Take a look at some of the podcasts I’m loving right now below and let me know if there are any that I should add!

how i built this

Host Guy Raz “weaves a narrative journey about innovators, entrepreneurs and idealists—and the movements they built,” This podcast is really interesting because it takes you through the journey of a company from where they started to where they are now through a personal interview with the founder. Some of my favorite episodes feature Away founder Jen Rubio, Steve Madden, and Kate Spade.

if i made a podcast

This podcast is really new, as in it only has three episodes, but I can already tell that it’s going to become a favorite. Emily Newman is the founder of Once Wed as well as If I Made, an online platform for creatives to learn from industry leaders. She shares about how she built her business and lessons that she has learned such as how to deal with uncertainty and how to test ideas before implementing them. My favorite episode so far is probably the first one all about how Emily started her business.

raising the bar

Raising the Bar is hosted by Drybar founders Alli Webb and Michael Landau who also happen to be siblings. It is “a show for entrepreneurs, for anyone who wants to know about business, or how to have a life while having a business.” They speak to business owners much like How I Built This, but with a different perspective since they are both entrepreneurs themselves. Some of my favorites include the interview with Jen Gotch of Bando, and Joy Cho of Oh Joy.

workparty

If you are a female entrepreneur and you haven’t hear of Create & Cultivate yet, you might be living under a rock. WorkParty is hosted by CEO and author Jaclyn Johnson. One thing that I like about this podcast is that there are a lot of mini episodes which are great when you need something to listen to on a quick drive. WorkParty is all about building women up and celebrating each others’ success. My favorite episode is the one with Tan France.

gamechangers

Savannah Hayes, the host of Gamechangers is a textile designer and business owner. She describes this podcast as a “personal mastermind” and really focuses on diving deep into the businesses of her guests. She’s big on systems and also makes sure to share lots of helpful resources. Some topics covered include raising funds, how to design for your customer, and how to pitch yourself. My favorite episode is with Farmgirl Flowers about creating an iconic brand and planning ahead.
