Four Facebook Groups for Commercial Photographers

To be honest, we aren’t big Facebook users, but the one really useful thing that sets Facebook apart from other social platforms is the ability to join groups. You know we’re all about community and information sharing, and joining groups is a great way to learn as well as share your own knowledge with others! t’s been a little while since we shared some of our favorite Facebook groups (read that first post here), so today I wanted to share some more with you, specifically ones that I have found to be helpful for commercial photography.

One point to keep in mind - these groups are made up of people, and people do not know everything (even though they like to pretend that they do). So just remember to always do your own research and don’t believe every piece of advice you read on these groups haha. Overall they’re great, but I get annoyed when I see people telling others to work for free, not bother with licensing, or quote too low and unfortunately it’s common even in great groups like these.

commercial photographers network

A place for commercial photographers to ask questions about licensing, pricing, posing, lighting, etc. It’s a pretty active group with a lot of helpful info.

commercial photographers + professionals network

This group is an offshoot of the previous one, but is for all commercial professionals in order to be able to ask cross-industry questions. There is a lot more variety in the kind of questions in this group.

the business of commercial photography

This group is run by CPR: Commercial Photographer's Resources. The group is focused on the business of commercial/advertising photography and so most of the questions in this group will be focused on the business side of things.

thelawtog® - the legal resource for photographers

This group is all about the legal side of commercial photography, but there are also a lot of questions about business too. It’s a very large group with over 60K members so there is a LOT of information here.

Hope these groups are helpful for you!! If you have any others to add to this list, please let us know!

Is it the weekend yet?
