Inspiration 72 / Stella Kim
I love being able to find other local creatives in our area through Instagram. It’s been the most fun getting to know some of them in real life as well. Recently I discovered art director + stylist Stella Kim through a tagged photo on TAP Plastic’s Instagram page. TAP Plastics is a local store in our area that offers a variety of random plastic and acrylic materials for all sorts of projects. Elle and I often visit the location on The Alameda for acrylic pieces to use as props in our shoot. You can read about some of our favorite places (including TAP Plastics) to shoot for props here.
I first came across the image below with the papaya and acrylic which we found out Stella laser cut herself. I instantly fell in love. I was so inspired by the way she incorporated the acrylic to create dimension and a fun colorful shadow. Normally when we’ve purchased acrylic, we always assumed that they were only able to cut them in squares or rectangles. Seeing these images opened up the possibilities of how we can use the acrylic or create shapes out of them to make our props more interesting.
Stella was kind enough to share more of her work with us for this inspiration post. Give her a follow on Instagram and be sure to keep an eye out for when her website goes live.
Is it the weekend yet?
