INSPIRATION 18 / WINDY CHIEN
Recently one of my friends introduced me to Windy Chien, an artist who works with rope and knots. Her story is so interesting, and definitely contributes to her creativity. She grew up in a military family who moved all over the country. As an adult, she owned an independent record shop in San Francisco for 14 years. Then Windy spent several years working for Apple, specifically with iTunes and eventually as App Store managing editor. In her bio she says, "I’ve cycled across Southeast Asia (twice), toured with Lollapalooza, presented my undergraduate thesis film at Sundance, am a certified yoga instructor, and teach classes in wood spoon carving. I rescue greyhounds."
With such an interesting life, its no surprise that Windy makes interesting art as well. She creates beautiful installations using one simple thing - rope. In 2016 she made a different knot every single day which blows my mind. Take a peek at her work to gain some inspiration this weekend.
Is it the weekend yet?
